Green Games

The main goal of “Green games. Libraries and non-governmental organizations involve youth in the game for nature” project is to increase the level of knowledge among young people about biodiversity, the economic value of ecosystems and climate change.

The beneficiaries of the project are public libraries (school and pedagogical) and non-governmental organizations in Poland.

The libraries will receive tools for changing the attitudes of their direct beneficiaries – secondary school pupils and university students. The educational potential of ‘serious’ games, as well as the capabilities of non-governmental ecological organizations and rising popularity of public libraries, will change young people’s attitude to environmental issues through implementation of “Green Games” project.

The project involves the preparation and implementation of three ecologically oriented board games and one climate change online game. At the final stage of the project, the nationwide Polish “Ecological game festival” is scheduled to take place.

Using games as the tools of ecological education will increase the potential of non-governmental organizations and libraries and will foster their positive image. Young people prefer modern education techniques to the traditional ones. The implementation of the project will encourage the libraries to introduce wider ecological education. Since games are a very attractive mode of learning, the non-governmental organizations are gaining the attention of the youth. All the institutions taking part in the project, and, therefore equipped with the games, will be encouraged to their further usage.

The project is realized by Centre for Systems Solutions Association in partnership with Information Society Development Foundation and Foundation for Sustainable Development within the Operational Programme PL02 “The protection of biological diversity and ecosystems” within the EOG Fund.
